The Guangming District delegation's recent journey to Europe for investment purposes has proven to be highly successful, Shenzhen Guangming WeChat account reported.
From Sep. 8 to 14, the district's European investment promotion team embarked on a venture to Belgium and Spain, focusing on attracting foreign businesses to establish a presence in the district.
During the investment promotion trip, the Guangming delegation targeted crucial sectors such as technology and industry, aiming to leverage global scientific and technological resources. The strategic approach led to the signing of 21 cooperation agreements and business orders totaling an impressive 3.816 billion yuan (US$538 million). The delegation visited 15 enterprises, finalizing cooperation intentions on 10 key projects.
The Guangming Science City, with a strategic focus on emerging industries like bio-medicine, high-end medical equipment, high-performance materials, information technology, and artificial intelligence, aimed to attract investments in these sectors. The efforts during the outbound investment promotion trip successfully facilitated international cooperation, leading to the conclusion of several project collaborations and order signings.
Key industries in the district such as life sciences, new materials, and information technology were highlighted during the European trip. The signed projects not only promise direct cooperation and orders for local enterprises but also signify enhanced research and operational collaboration between the district and foreign entities.

Notable collaborations during the trip included partnerships formed with organizations in Belgium such as the Battery Innovation Center of the Université Libre de Bruxelles for research in lithium-ion solid-state batteries. Moreover, agreements with organizations in the bio-medicine and medical device sectors were signed in Belgium, encouraging establishments in Guangming District. Major business orders were secured, totaling 3.64 billion yuan from enterprises like Deren Electronics, Skyworth PV Tech, and CellBri.
In Spain, the district's cultural and sports bureau signed agreements with Spain-based Puente China Group and Mediaurban Group, while its business bureau forged a strategic cooperation agreement with the Shenzhen Chamber of Commerce in Spain. Guangming companies like CellBri and Xidesheng (XDS) Carbon-Tech also signed agreements with local enterprises worth over 176 million yuan in Spain.
This European trip saw the establishment of partnerships with organizations like ChinaEU and the Belgian-Chinese Economic and Commercial Council, aiding in crafting innovative investment strategies. The focus on connecting global scientific and technological resources, particularly with Barcelona being a hub for innovation in Europe, further strengthens the potential for growth and collaboration between Guangming District and international entities.
The cooperation with the Barcelona Science Park signifies an important step in sharing scientific research facilities and fostering innovation. The memorandum of friendly exchanges and cooperation signed between Guangming District Government and the Badalona City Government in Barcelona Province highlights the commitment to deeper collaborations across various sectors, aligning with their shared focus on cutting-edge medical technologies and development in the bio-pharmaceutical and high-end medical device industries.
